Luben Wandeyema Chebutoti from Tasoo Village, Kabole Parish, Bukokho Sub County in Namisindwa district says that together with his late father, they hid and provided food to President Museveni in 1980 at the time NRA was waging war against Obote’s regime.
While speaking to our reporter in an exclusive interview on Monday, 6th May, 2024, shortly after celebrating his 100 years last week, Wandeyema says that President Museveni pledged to give him money (he didn’t disclose the amount) during the 2021 campaigns when he went to Namisindwa but he has not received anything since then.
He says that when his father died, the President delivered a good amount of money as condolence which they appreciated as a family.
Wandeyema argues that he doesn’t want the President to send a condolence message when he has died but rather give him what was pledged so he can use it while still alive.
He urged the concerned authorities to take his message to the President such that he can remember him saying in case, it was given and someone has pocketed it, government must investigate the matter.
John Wafula, the LCIII chairperson of Bukokho Sub County in Namisindwa district told this reporter that the President must have sent the pledge but top officers from government have decided to put it in their pockets.
He says that several times he has tried to raise the same issue but no positive results have come out.
John Musila, Member of Parliament representing Bubulo East constituency in Namisindwa district says Wandeyema should be given his pledge before meeting his death as he wants.
He promised to take the matter up by reminding the President in case he has forgotten since he is a busy person. Musila says without the help of the Wandeyema family, the president could have died.
Aramazan Wabuko, the Namisindwa District National Resistance Movement (NRM) Party Chairperson says that no has misused the pledged money adding that he is going to up the matter until he gets an answer.
