KAPCHORWA, Uganda; The National Resistance Movement (NRM) LC I chairpersons across Uganda’s Sebei Sub-region held coordination meetings on Tuesday at various sub-county and division headquarters as the party finalized preparations for nationwide Village Barazas scheduled for Wednesday, 22nd July 2026.
The Barazas are designed to mobilize grassroots support for NRM flag bearers ahead of the upcoming Village Women Council and LC I Chairperson elections.
The engagements were led by Sebei NRM Sub-regional Coordinator Mr. Yosiah Oloo, together with other members of the party’s regional team. According to organizers, this marked the third round of preparatory meetings following earlier consultations with district leaders, registrars and party structures in Kapchorwa, Kween and Bukwo districts.
Speaking after the meetings, the leaders expressed confidence that all sub-counties in the sub-region are ready to host the Barazas. They noted that the party’s mobilization message has been widely disseminated through community meetings and radio talk shows in the past week.
Mr. Oloo said the Barazas will provide a platform for candidates to present their agenda and for the NRM to reaffirm its commitment to service delivery at the village level. He urged members to turn out in large numbers and ensure peaceful participation.
With the local council polls approaching, the NRM says the Village Barazas are critical to consolidating support and strengthening party structures at the grassroots across Sebei and the country.
