The DRI’s Mumbai zone officials received a tip off that a female passenger was bringing drugs into the country
The contraband was seized and the woman was arrested under the provisions of NDPS Act 1985.
A woman from Uganda has been arrested by the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence for allegedly trying to smuggle cocaine worth Rs 8.9 crore into India. The officials said that the woman was arrested at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International airport in Mumbai after she was caught with contraband substance which she had hidden inside her wig and undergarments worn by her.
According to the DRI officials, the operation was conducted in the early hours on Tuesday.

“The DRI as a drugs enforcement agency has busted numerous modus operandi ranging from concealment methods like sanitary pads concealment, liquid cocaine in whisky bottles, black cocaine, cocaine in moisturizer bottles etc,” said DRI officials.
Subsequently, the officials intercepted the woman at the airport as soon as she arrived from Addis Ababa. Searches were conducted and DRI officials recovered 890 grams of cocaine which is valued at Rs 8.9 crores in the illicit market.
