Kampala, Uganda: The Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) has launched the Weyonje Sanitation Challenge 2025 in Bwaise I Parish, Kawempe Division, with a call to residents to make sanitation a daily routine.
Speaking at the launch event, KCCA Executive Director, Hajjat Sharifah Buzeki, emphasized the importance of proper sanitation and hygiene, saying, “proper sanitation and hygiene is not a one-off, it must be a daily routine.”
“We appreciate the efforts of our residents in taking charge of their environment,” Buzeki said, adding that cleanliness starts with each individual.
The event saw residents coming together to clean the area and receive sensitization on waste sorting and proper sanitation facilities.
The KCCA ED expressed gratitude to partners, including Centenary Bank, Towauchafu, NEMA, Ministry of Health, and UNICEF, for their support in making the initiative a success. “With our Weyonje partners, we can make remarkable improvements,” she said.

The Weyonje Sanitation Challenge 2025 aims to promote a culture of cleanliness and sanitation in Kampala, with KCCA committed to working with communities to achieve a healthier and cleaner city.
