Kampala, Uganda: The Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) is making strides in air quality management, with efforts being replicated by other nations, according to KCCA Executive Director, Hajjat Sharifah Buzeki.

Speaking during a meeting with a delegation from Dhaka City, Bangladesh, Buzeki highlighted KCCA’s initiatives, including the installation of over 100 air monitors across the city’s five divisions and real-time air quality reporting from community champions.

“We believe a productive, healthy population is core to realizing our desire for a Vibrant, Attractive, Livable and Sustainable City,” Buzeki said.
KCCA is also promoting a smoke-free Kampala by restricting smoking in public places and discouraging open-air burning of waste.
The delegation, led by Mr. Joseph Ngamije, Deputy Director Partnership for Healthy Cities Africa, is on a four-day benchmarking visit to learn from KCCA’s air quality management strategies.
Buzeki expressed confidence that together, they can champion a Clean Air Campaign in Kampala. “Together we can champion a Clean Air Campaign in our beloved City,” she said.
