Kampala, Uganda: The Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) has launched the Weyonje Sanitation Challenge 2025 in Makindye Division, with a call to residents to take ownership of their environment.

Speaking at the launch event, KCCA Executive Director, Hajjat Sharifah Buzeki, emphasized the importance of daily commitment to sanitation, saying, “Sanitation is not a one-day activity, it is a daily commitment.”

“We are inspired by the community spirit and urge all residents to keep the momentum going,” Buzeki said, adding that a cleaner city is a shared responsibility. The event saw residents coming together to clean their neighborhoods and engage on the importance of waste sorting and proper sanitation.

The KCCA ED affirmed that a cleaner, healthier Kampala begins with each individual, saying, “Seeing communities take ownership affirms that a cleaner, healthier Kampala begins with each of us.”
