KCCA, Buganda Kingdom Renew Partnership for Kampala’s Development

Kampala, Uganda: KCCA Deputy Executive Director, Benon Kigenyi, today hosted a high-level delegation from Buganda Kingdom, led by Prince David Wasajja Kintu, the Kabaka’s Attorney, to strengthen ties and enhance collaboration on development planning for the City of Kampala. The meeting reaffirmed the shared vision for a vibrant, attractive, and sustainable city, with a focus on delivering quality services to residents.

The discussions highlighted Buganda Kingdom’s significant contributions to Kampala’s development, including hosting key public infrastructures such as schools, markets, medical centers, and roads on Kingdom land. The partnership has also promoted self-help initiatives, like “Bulungi Bwansi,” which encourages good sanitation practices and improves quality of life.

Prince Wasajja observed the need for regular engagements to ensure seamless collaboration, citing the importance of reducing delays in service delivery. He assured KCCA of Buganda Kingdom’s continued support in combating illegal developments and pledged cooperation on detailed planning initiatives, starting with the Munyonyo Waterfront Development Precinct Plans.

Kigenyi welcomed the renewed partnership, acknowledging Buganda Kingdom’s crucial role in driving organized development in Kampala. The collaboration is expected to accelerate progress towards a well-planned, prosperous, and livable city for all residents.
