Soroti, Uganda: The Uganda Human Rights Commission Tribunal, chaired by Hon. Mariam Wangadya, has awarded a total of Shs 94 million to victims of human rights violations in a sitting held at the Soroti Regional Office. The tribunal, which includes Hon. Col. Steven Basaliza, Hon. Lamex Omara Apitta, and Hon. Crispin Kaheru as members, is currently in session in Soroti City for the entire week.
This step inks Commission’s commitment to addressing human rights abuses and providing justice to those affected. The awarded compensation aims to bring relief and redress to the victims, acknowledging the suffering and injustices they have endured.
During their time in Soroti City, the tribunal will likely engage with various stakeholders, including local communities, civil society organizations, and government officials. This engagement will help to raise awareness about human rights issues and promote accountability.
