Kampala, Uganda: In a show of overwhelming support, the National Resistance Movement (NRM) has delivered over 2 million signatures to the Electoral Commission (EC) in support of President Yoweri Museveni’s nomination as the party’s flag bearer for the upcoming presidential elections.
Led by NRM Secretary General Rt Hon Richard Todwong, a procession of senior party officials and supporters marched to the EC offices to submit the signatures, fulfilling one of the legal requirements for the nomination. Todwong expressed high optimism that the massive support would translate into landslide victories for both President Museveni and other NRM candidates.
“The signatures are a clear indication of the party’s strength and popularity across the country,” Todwong said. “We are confident that this support will be reflected in the election results.”
The delivery of signatures marks a significant milestone in the NRM’s preparations for the presidential elections, with President Museveni set to face off against other candidates in a highly anticipated contest. The NRM’s overwhelming support is seen as a boost to the President’s re-election bid.
