Ibanda, Uganda: The Woman Member of Parliament for Ibanda District, Hon. Jane Bainomugisha, has officially declared her bid to retain the National Resistance Movement (NRM) party flag in the ongoing primaries. As the 2026 general elections draw closer, Bainomugisha has stepped up her grassroots mobilization, calling on voters to entrust her once again with the responsibility of representing and transforming Ibanda.

Addressing a well-attended joint NRM campaign rally in Ishongororo Town Council, Ibanda North, Bainomugisha urged constituents to renew their confidence in her leadership, pointing to her track record both in Parliament and at the community level. She highlighted achievements in healthcare, education, road infrastructure, and women empowerment as evidence of her commitment to service.
“I stand before you not just to ask for your vote, but to renew our covenant for Ibanda’s transformation,” she said to a cheering crowd. “I have worked hand-in-hand with the people of this district, and if granted the mandate again, I will continue to champion better service delivery and create more opportunities, especially for youth and women.”

The rally attracted NRM leaders and aspiring flag bearers from across the district, with supporters turning out in large numbers clad in the party’s signature yellow. The vibrant gathering underscored the growing political momentum in the NRM’s internal elections.
Hon. Bainomugisha, who has served in Parliament under the NRM banner for the past term, praised the people of Ibanda for their loyalty to the party and to President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni. She credited her developmental milestones—including the lobbying of new health centers, school renovations, and women livelihood initiatives—to strong collaboration with central government institutions.

Looking ahead, Bainomugisha unveiled key priorities in her five-year vision for the district, which include:
• Upgrading rural roads to improve connectivity and market access;
• Supporting farmers with inputs and extension services to boost agricultural productivity;
• Establishing a district-level skills training center to empower the youth with employable skills.

As the NRM primaries continue across the district, Bainomugisha has campaigned in other areas such as Keihangara, Kicuzi, Rwenkoobwa, and Bisheshe Division to share her development agenda with voters.
Party sources indicate that the Ibanda Woman MP race will be highly competitive, with several prominent women leaders contesting for the party flag. Nevertheless, Bainomugisha remains confident that her experience, grassroots engagement, and tangible results will give her the edge.

The NRM Electoral Commission has urged all candidates to maintain peaceful campaigns and adhere strictly to party guidelines. Results from the Ibanda Woman MP flag bearer contest are expected to be announced later this month.
Should she win both the primaries and the general election, Hon. Jane Bainomugisha says she will remain steadfast in her mission to turn Ibanda into a model district of inclusive and sustainable development in western Uganda.
