PHOTOS: Hon. Agaba Aisa Black Urges Women to Work Hard for Development During Women’s Day Celebrations

Kakumiro, Bunyoro-Uganda: The Women’s Day celebrations in Kakumiro Sub County was indeed a success, with Hon. Agaba Aisa Black, MP Bugangaizi East, delivering a powerful message of empowerment and gratitude to the women of the district. The event, spearheaded by Prime Minister Nabbanja, brought together women from all walks of life to celebrate their contributions to the country’s development and to learn new skills and strategies for economic empowerment.

In her remarks, Hon. Agaba expressed her gratitude to the Prime Minister and the NRM government for organizing the event, which she said had brought pride and respect to women in the district. “We thank God and PM Nabbanja for spearheading the organization of this year’s women’s day in Kakumiro District, bringing out the value of woman and making us proud before the public and respectfully earning honour before our husbands,” she said.

The MP emphasized the importance of women taking an active role in the country’s development, citing President Museveni’s efforts to uplift women to top leadership positions. “President Museveni has uplifted women to top levels, and we are no longer in the kitchen but leadership,” she said. “We have women in health, education, catering, driving, and many other categories, and it’s high time we come out and work tirelessly to add a brick to our country’s development, our families.”

Hon. Agaba also highlighted the various government programs aimed at empowering women, such as the Uganda Women Entrepreneurship Program (UWEP), the Parish Development Model (PDM), and Emyooga. “Museveni has gone ahead to fund women-led programs, which shows that the NRM government is fighting to see that women develop by all means,” she said.

The MP urged women in Bugangaizi East to take advantage of these programs and work hard to develop their families and communities. “For Bugangaizi East in particular, this is high time to work hard, do farming, plant coffee, cocoa, have something at home to help you develop than leveraging begging,” she said. “It is only through working that you can contribute to development, and remember , we build our families, we don’t destroy.”

Hon. Agaba also emphasized the critical role women play in building and sustaining families. “These days, in most cases, women look after children, build houses, and look after husbands for the better,” she said. “Therefore, this is the day you should remember that the NRM government values you a lot.”

The celebrations provided a platform for women to learn new skills, network, and showcase their talents. The event was marked by a sense of joy, enthusiasm, and determination, as women from all over the district came together to celebrate their achievements and look forward to a brighter future.

The Prime Minister, Rt. Hon. Robinah Nabbanja, successfully spearheaded the Women’s Day celebrations in Kakumiro District, bringing together key government officials and MPs. Minister of State for Transport, Minister for Water and Environment, Minister of State for Mineral Development, and Minister for Bunyoro Affairs were among the dignitaries in attendance.

Members of Parliament, including Basemera, Hope Grania, and Kirabo Agnes, also participated in the event. This celebration showcased the government’s commitment to empowering women and promoting national development. Through her leadership, Prime Minister Nabbanja continues to inspire women to embrace government programs and contribute to the country’s growth.
