Maama Muhoozi Exposes Party’s Neglect Amidst Life-Threatening Injury

Here is Mbabazi Prossy aka Maama Muhoozi, a dedicated National Resistance Movement (NRM) mobilizer has come forward with a harrowing tale of neglect and disregard by some high-ranking party officials. She narrates that, she has suffered a severe injury to her eye two years ago while working in an one of the NRM office that she didn’t mention. Despite her significant contributions to the party through her exceptional mobilization skills, she was left to fend for herself, struggling to access medical care.

The incident occurred when the mobilizer was in the field working tirelessly in that NRM office, dedicating her time and energy to promoting the party’s agenda. However, her life took a drastic turn when she met with an accident, sustaining a serious injury to one side of her head, which severely affected her eye. To her dismay, she did not receive any assistance, leaving her to navigate the complexities of medical care on her own.

In desperation, the mobilizer turned to Nakasero Hospital, where she underwent two tests, and samples were sent to India for further analysis. The results revealed that she required surgery to address the injury. Since then, she has been battling this debilitating condition, which has significantly impacted her quality of life.

Maama Muhoozi’s sight has worsened over time, prompting her to speak out about the neglect she suffered at the hands of the party. She expressed deep dissatisfaction with some party officials of whom herself helped to the high offices they hold currently. “On several occasions, we foot soldiers, are overlooked and undervalued to make matters worse even those I helped instead wish me negatives.” “However, I want to inform you that whichever small positions we hold, we have a certain percentage of contribution to your achievements and promotion” she stated.

“Some of the office bearers within the party don’t want their subordinates to talk about any other NRM structure that is not in line with their duty which is a disservice to the party.”

She emphasized that the collective efforts of party loyalists like herself are what enable high-ranking officials to succeed. “What makes you succeed is our small, small collective contributions that you ride on,” she said, highlighting the importance of acknowledging and appreciating the hard work of grassroots mobilizers.

In a heartfelt appeal, the mobilizer reached out to President Museveni, saying, “We have tirelessly worked for the NRM party using our physical energy, using our meagre resources, and technical abilities. Therefore, it is ideal that you remember us foot soldiers, but whenever we have problems, our issues don’t find redress by those supposed to help us.”

However, the mobilizer did express gratitude to Minister for Youth and Children Affairs, Hon. Balaam Barugahara, who referred her to a dedicated doctors in a certain Hospital where they conducted a successful eye surgery today 25th April, 2025. She also thanked Hajji Kakande for providing financial assistance during her time of need.

“Because of the agony on my heart, if some officials in the NRM Party with whom I helped don’t change the way they treat me, I will mention them one by one,” she warned, hinting at the possibility of revealing the list of those people.”

The mobilizer’s story sheds light on the often-overlooked struggles of party loyalists who work tirelessly behind the scenes. Her experience serves as a wake-up call for the NRM Party to reevaluate its treatment of grassroots mobilizers and ensure that their contributions are recognized and valued.

As the party continues to navigate the complexities of Ugandan politics, it remains to be seen whether the concerns of its dedicated mobilizers will be addressed.
