Kampala, Uganda: In a passionate address to the nation, Magezi David William, a youthful presidential aspirant, officially declared his candidacy for the 2026 Ugandan presidential elections. William, who will be running as an independent candidate under the slogan “Rise With Us – Make Uganda the Pearl Again,” outlined his vision for transforming Uganda into a great nation.

At the heart of William’s campaign is a five-point manifesto, which prioritizes:

Fighting Corruption; William vowed to tackle corruption head-on, recognizing it as a major obstacle to Uganda’s progress.

Education and Health; He emphasized the need to invest in education and healthcare systems to uplift the living standards of Ugandans.

Good Governance and Accountability; William stressed the importance of promoting transparency, accountability, and good governance in all aspects of national life.

Security, National Unity, and Patriotism; He pledged to ensure the safety and security of all Ugandans, while promoting national unity and patriotism.

Environmental Conservation and Sustainable Development; William recognized the need to protect Uganda’s natural resources and promote sustainable development for future generations.

William also identified five key pillars to drive Uganda’s transformation: education, agriculture, trade, transport, and tourism. He emphasized the need for a balanced approach to development, combining free market economies with government intervention in business.

The presidential hopeful criticized the current state of politics in Uganda, accusing President Museveni’s government of perpetuating poverty, corruption, and poor service delivery. William urged Ugandans, particularly the youth, to join him in transforming the country, saying, “Our time is now. We need a good education system that will give us jobs. We should stop expecting our jobs outside the country”.

Magezi David William’s presidential bid represents a fresh perspective on Ugandan politics, with a focus on transformative change, good governance, and sustainable development. As the country prepares for the 2026 elections, William’s message is likely to resonate with many Ugandans seeking a new direction for their nation.
