Kampala, Uganda: Henry Kasacca Mubiru, the newly endorsed flag bearer of the Democratic Party for the Kawempe North by-election, has issued a rallying call to voters, emphasizing that this election presents a critical opportunity to revitalize democracy, address pressing development challenges, and restore effective leadership.
According to Mubiru, the upcoming by-election offers a chance to renew the struggle for democracy, which has been eroded over time. He stressed that it is essential to uphold democratic values and principles, ensuring that the will of the people is respected and represented.
Mubiru also highlighted the need to address challenges associated with the development of Kawempe and Uganda at large. He acknowledged that the constituency faces numerous development challenges, including inadequate infrastructure, poor healthcare, and limited economic opportunities. He pledged to work tirelessly to address these challenges and improve the lives of the people of Kawempe.
Furthermore, Mubiru emphasized the importance of renewing the political class due to the gradual erosion of leadership. He noted that the current leadership has failed to deliver on its promises, leading to widespread disillusionment and discontent. He vowed to bring about a new era of leadership, characterized by accountability, transparency, and a commitment to serving the people.
In addition, Mubiru called for the removal of optimistic leaders who have failed to deliver on their promises. He argued that these leaders have perpetuated a culture of complacency and incompetence, which has hindered progress and development.
He underscored the importance of upholding the value of good governance. He emphasized that good governance is essential for promoting economic growth, reducing poverty, and improving the overall quality of life. He pledged to promote good governance and ensure that the resources of Kawempe are managed efficiently and effectively.
The Kawempe North by-election is scheduled to take place from 13th March 2025, with the Electoral Commission overseeing the process.
