Kampala, Uganda: In a significant move to strengthen human rights cooperation, Hon. Mariam Wangadya, Chairperson of the Uganda Human Rights Commission (UHRC), met with Her Excellency Lisa Chesney, the new British High Commissioner to Uganda. The meeting, held today, marked the beginning of a new era of collaboration between the two nations, with a shared goal of advancing and protecting human rights in Uganda.
The discussions between the two leaders centered on key areas of partnership, including strengthening legal frameworks, enhancing the protection of vulnerable groups, and promoting human rights across Uganda. The Chairperson expressed her appreciation for the UK’s unwavering support, particularly in capacity building and advocacy.
Her Excellency Chesney reaffirmed the UK’s commitment to supporting Uganda’s human rights efforts, emphasizing the importance of international cooperation in safeguarding rights.
