Kampala, Uganda: The International University of East Africa (IUEA) has announced that preparations are complete for the inaugural International Youth Festival 2024, scheduled to take place in Uganda.
At the unveiling ceremony held at IUEA’s Kansanga campus, Professor Emeka Akaezuwa, the Vice Chancellor, expressed excitement about the opportunities this festival will bring. “We’ll be hosting the International Youth Festival 2024 to celebrate and give back to the community, while exploring narratives around culture, music, tourism, technology, business, and cultural exchange,” he said.
Professor Emeka emphasized that this festival is not exclusive to IUEA students but open to all students worldwide. “Students will learn about technology and innovations from their global peers and share their skills,” he added.
Dr. Lakshmi Bhabuu, IUEA’s Deputy Vice Chancellor, highlighted the festival’s goal of connecting youth with national and global actors. “It’s a stage for showcasing talents and driving meaningful conversations around music, culture, business, and technology – everyone’s invited,” she said.
Mugwanya Kevin from Eastern Vibe encouraged students to attend the festival in Jinja, promising entertainment from local and international artists. “We welcome students with various forms of entertainment to register and showcase their talents,” he said .
Solomon Musa, IUEA’s Social Affairs Minister, invited fellow GenZs to join the event, tailored specifically for them. The launch was attended by artists Nina Roz (IUEA student), Allien Skin, Pinky, and Pretty Banks.
The International Youth Festival 2024 will be the first youth-focused international event combining culture, music, tourism, technology, business, and cultural exchange. Hosted by IUEA’s Faculty of Business and Management (Bachelor of Tourism and Hotel Management), the event will start at IUEA on October 4, 2024, and culminate in a festival in Jinja on October 5, 2024.
