Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana will be heading to Uganda next month, but not for a visit – he’ll be in action on the football pitch.
Onana will join the Cameroon team as they face Zimbabwe at Namboole Stadium on September 10 in a Group J match of the 2025 AFCON qualifiers.
Interestingly, Zimbabwe will first host Kenya at the same venue on September 6, also as part of the AFCON qualifiers. Both Zimbabwe and Kenya lack approved stadiums in their countries, prompting them to request Namboole management to host their ‘home’ games at the stadium for a fee.
Initially, the Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) considered renting a stadium in South Africa, given the strong support from the Zimbabwean diaspora in the region.
However, logistical considerations led them to opt for Uganda instead.
Ticket prices for the Zimbabwe vs. Cameroon match have already been announced, with ordinary tickets going for Shs 15,000, VIP tickets at 50,000, and VVIP tickets at 100,000.”
