RED CROSS AND PRUDENTIAL
The other one can be the testimonies from the public and as Red Cross we have captured those testimonies from the public on how the border borders have served their rights.

So we have those testimonies.
We talk to the medical facilities and we talk of how increasing the CDC The other aspect is the calls we get.
What we are talking about is the speed there when we call our call centre.
So we have the records.
It shows the track of how we get calls immediately after an accident and those are normally from border borders.
The SPE, the police, has mentioned it also, how they are happy and they are picking progress in that issue.
We may, going forward, cut out even an independent survey to confirm this and have it documented.
But it is a work in progress.
It is a work in progress.
The question of the traffic safety on our roads is far from being over.
One of the principles to making a road safer in terms of how they can observe road safety measures, but also on how they can be the first responders.
But there are so many factors and also on how this is expanded and every actor, whether you are a passenger, whether you are a pedestrian, whether you’re a driver, you have an addition to make to road safetyBut so far the border borders, the numbers are many.
So that’s why we’re talking about another phase.
But also to package it in a way that every step we make contributes positively to our road safety.
Ogal, Ministry of Gender.
Thank you very much.
The media house.
The media house is present here.
I’m Alex Ogal.
I work with the Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development.
As you have stated clearly in my presentation, I stated how we can prevent or prevent hazards in happening.
The five key areas that we need to address.
One is elimination and elimination is just a way of ensuring that every workplace is safe for you and for your customers.
So as a border border or as a chapati maker, you must make your workplace safe by ensuring that you eliminate all the hazardous substance or materials around your place.
Like for instance, the border border needs to make sure that his motorcycle is safe, is roadworthy, is in the clear state of mind without any disturbance, Then he can put on his protective gears, then move on.
S01
That is one.
Because as a government we are emphasizing that we must build a safety culture in all workplaces.
Whatever we do, you must go back safe when you have not injured or we have not lost any life.
So that is one thing that is very clear.
Then also in that elimination, you must make sure that you avoid other harmful behaviours like drug abuse or using substances that are not permitted at that particular time.
When you are going to work and you know that you are set now to work, please even if you drink, you avoid drinking.
So that you are safe on the road and in the evening after you have completed your work, then you can go and enjoy yourself As also you prepare for tomorrow.
But the second aspect is that you need to eliminate some of this, like a substitute, like the motorcycle.
If you know that your motorcycle is now not roadworthy, you can work together with the other financial agencies so that they give you a new motorcycle that is roadworthy so that you can now put on the other aspects of safety.
On to the new motorcycle.
Then you continue with your safety right and also ensuring that other road users are safe and we ensure that all of us are safe on the road and all our families are happy because at the end of the day no life is lost on the road.
This is something that is very key.
Then the other aspect is the administrative controls that I’ve talked about.
As leaders of the borders they need to ensure that All what has been taught or they have covered with the Red Cross, they must ensure that they enforce them if it is putting on protective gears.
They must make sure that everybody on the road is fully protected on the gears that have been provided.
Helmets, the reflector jackets, then the boots plus overalls.
They need to put on them and this one is what we call administrative controls.
It can be This is done by the leadership as they stand on the road to make sure that those who are already trained, they are daring too.
These are trainings and they practice them.
This is what I thought to put in place so that we make our road and our workplaces safe for everybody.
Because for the border, he does not have a station workplace.
But the road is his workplace, so this road must be safe for him from the start up to the end of his journey.
So that is something that it is very important that I thought I should share with you as media houses.
Thank you.
I think as a global entity and as an entity operating in Uganda It’s important for us that we invest in the communities that we are creating.
We do business with people and people must live and live safely for us to ensure that they will be there to purchase our products.
So as much as we do business as a life and a health insurer in this market, we turn around and invest in the communities that we are creating.
Now this is one of the many initiatives in the sustainability area that we pursue and road safety is a major discussion point for us.
Education, health and road safety I’ve been impressed that over 12,000 people have trained over the last two sessions.
The testimonies have been great from the border borders, the riders themselves.
The testimonies have been great from the Red Cross side and the testimonies have been great from the public itself and for us that’s the most important thing.
If we’re having an impact on the public and if we’re having an impact in even the delivery of first aid care at the point of accidents then we are achieving our aim.
What we aim to do is to be a consistent partner to this and continuously do this and build up the core number of people who have gone through this training and rule safety first aid and ensure that they live by the highway code and deliver their passengers in a safe manner and increase that core
number of people who have gone through this training.
Once that core number of people can begin to influence their colleagues I believe that this agenda would have had the desired outcome that we had in mind.
Your final question is that insurance companies have not been taking risks of insuring border borders.
How do you take this risk of insuring the border borders?
Isn’t it so and to undergoing high costs of running the business?
So what we’re doing is building the skills and the capacity they require to live a safe life.
And you did hear the testimony on that hand.
On the other hand, in terms of the Our insurance products that members of the Portobello Community have participated in and that’s as insurance.
We have products that speak to their needs which allows them to be able to Which allows them to be able to contribute in a way that suits the way they work in their pockets.
In partnership with Airtel we have the hospital centre product.
And that for us is a key aspect of our financial inclusion drive and our sustainability.
Make sure we can give them something that works for them in the environment they find themselves in as well as build their skills as well.
So we are with the BODA BODA community.
We are with them because like I said they are a key partner in the delivery of safe transport in Uganda and we’ll be with them for a long time.
Thank you so much.
