Former Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence ( CMI) boss Maj Gen Abel Kandiho has been appointed as President Museveni’s senior presidential advisor in charge of classified operations.
The appointment was announced on Friday.
Gen Kandiho was in May recalled from the police where he had served as the Chief of Joint Staff for two years and was appointed a special presidential advisor.
The latest development will put Kandiho in charge of critical security operations in the country.
Maj Gen Kandiho previously between 2017 and 2022 served as the chief of the Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence( CMI) which has since metamorphosed into the Directorate of Intelligence and Security as the intelligence arm of the UPDF.
He is credited to have led operations against ADF terror cells in the country, especially, following the November 2021 bombings in Kampala that left scores dead and others injured.
