Kampala, Uganda: As security is being heightened allover Kampala City as a result of anticipated youths march to Parliament tomorrow to petition the speaker over corruption, The Bunyangabu County Legislator Hon. Kamukama Davis Araali has appealed to Ugandan youths not to continue with their planned March to Parliament.
The legislator has informed this website that the president engaged all MPs especially those from NRM and together they discussed on how to handle this voice. They concurred to have the law take action on the suspected corrupt people.
“Dear youths, the law is taking it’s course, you very well know that there some people already arrested an remanded to Luzira due to suspected participation in corruption, when found guilty they’ll be charged as law provides, therefore I ask you to be calm.” He revealed.
“Again as you march, there may be bad elements who may infiltrate into your procession hence causing chaos that may lead you to be arrested yet you have a lot of things to do to earn a living and may be looking after your families. Therefore to avoid this, leave it in the hands of law.” He added.
Hon. Kamukama went on to inform the youths that in a bid to fight corruption, the President instituted an independent State House Anti-Corruption Unit that is charged to lodge investigation into matters related to the vice and execute them. ‘The Unit is doing an amazing work and most of the suspects have been arrested, those found guilty have paid back funds received as a result of the corruption, therefore have trust in the law.’.
“There’s no one above the law in Uganda and this is the reason as to why whoever will be found indulging into this vice will face the law, but planning to protest in March to Parliament is unlawful, therefore, I urge all the youths across Uganda, not to participate in it.’
The legislator has made these remarks amidst high anticipation of the youths to Parliament tomorrow to petition the speaker over corruption.
