Mbarara Police have arrested Private Herbertson Robert Birivumbuka, a soldier attached to the Special Forces Command, for the murder of four family members.
The incident occurred recently in Namatale village, Kabayingire parish, Buwaaya sub-county, Mayuge district.
Deputy Police Spokesperson SSP Claire Nabakka said Birivumbuka attacked the family of Isaac Buyinza Budarasi, 40 over unknown reasons.
“Private Birivumbuka escaped from his place of work and proceeded to his village in Mayuge where he allegedly shot four close family members before returning to his unit in Mbarara,” Nabakka reported.
However, the suspect’s unit had already detected his absence, leading to his immediate arrest upon return.
