Her Excellency Kate Airey, the British High Commissioner to Uganda, has said the Ugandan theatre industry should be supported and developed to be an integral part of the social economic development programs of the nation.
The British High Commissioner made these remarks today while meeting Aganza Kisaka the CEO of Yenze Theatre Conservatoire, in Kampala.
She said that theatre has the potential to create deep reflections, to bring communities together, and also be a source of healing. She hailed the efforts of Yenze Theatre Conservatoire, YTC , who are celebrating three years of theatre this year.

Yenze Theatre Conservatoire is dedicated to nurturing the next generation of performing artists through comprehensive training, innovative productions, and community engagement.
Founded in 2021 by Aganza Kisaka, an award winning actress and experienced theatre director, the conservatoire has become a beacon of artistic excellence, empowering aspiring performers to realize their full potential and make a meaningful impact in the world through apprenticeship, mentorship and acting classes.
This July, they are proud to announce their inaugural production, “She Loves Me,” presented through a special arrangement with Music, Theatre International which also supplied all authorized performance materials.
The production is set to grace the stage at the National.
Theatre with 11 shows starting on July 19th, 2024. This delightful romantic comedy, directed by Aganza Kisaka, Lakuc Simeon Rugette, Amanyire Andrew and Mirian Mwase, promises to captivate audiences with its charm and witty-humor.
This production is not merely a performance; it is a celebration of their accreditation by the Directorate of Industrial Training, and a declaration of their commitment to nurturing young talent.
Based on the play by Miklós László, “She Loves Me” follows the story of two rivalring perfume clerks, Amalia Balash and Georg Nowack, who fall in love with each other through anonymous romantic pen pals. As their letters become a source of comfort, their workplace rivalry
intensifies, leading to a series of comedic misunderstandings and heartwarming revelations.
Set against the backdrop of a bustling 1930s Budapest, this tale explores the complexities of love,
longing, and the transformative power of human connection taking us back to the days of letter writing.
This production comes as a celebration of our three years in the industry with alumni from four graduating classes.
It’s a testament to the arts community we’ve built here at Yenze Theatre Conservatoire.
The production will kick off with its cocktail opening night on July 19th, 2024, followed by additional performances on July 20th, 21st, 26th, 27th, and 28th.
Audiences will have the opportunity to experience the magic of romance and comedy with two shows each day, starting at 2:00pm and 7:00pm. Starring iconic names in the performance industry such as Kenneth Mugabi, Tayo Shonubi and Andrew Amanyire.
