He regarded this as a form of Community Social Responsibility and called upon fellow business leaders to join to the cause.
This he did at the inagural function of the initiative aimed at enhancing the beautiful appeal of Kampala City and contribute to a more environmentally friendly urban landscape.
On this day, Kiggundu stressed that ‘This is our city, this is our country; we have to support its development and beautify our surroundings.’
He offered not to concentrate the initial tree planting efforts in Makindye Division, but to spread to other areas to address the lack of greenery along the city’s roads.
With all these efforts, he encountered anunbelievable moment when he saw KCCA employees poisoning and destroying the costly royal palm trees he invested in to donate for the cause.
Taking to his X-handle formerly Twitter, Kiggundu said;
Its really sad seeing these KCCA employees poisioning and destroying these palm trees…..where is the patriotism…..We spent alot of money and time… buying,donating, planting and maintaining these royal palm trees across the entire city under their watch and supervision….with such impunitive acts unprosecuted we have a long way to develop as a Country…For God and My Country
