Police in Serere district are actively investigating the circumstances under which an 18 year old girl was murdered by a yet to be identified man in the district.

The deceased identified as Scovia Apio was a senior three student of Homeward Secondary School in Serere district.
Edison Obukulem, the acting East Kyoga Police Spokesperson says that preliminary findings indicate that the deceased received death threats from her boyfriend, a one Philip Ajotu on 8/06/2024 but issues were not reported to the relevant Authorities.
He says that in the wee hours of Tuesday, 12th June, 2024 at about 4:00AM, the deceased’s brother, Tom Osako went outside for a short call. On coming back, he met the deceased also going for a short call. After around 05 minutes, the brother heard a pig making noise and he suspected something had gone wrong.
“The brother moved out and saw a certain man coming from the room of the sister, He tried running after him but failed to get him and couldn’t even identify him at that time he proceeded to the sister’s room and found her dead”, said Mr. Obukulem.
Mr. Obukulem added that afterwards the matter was then reported to CPS Serere vide CRB:285/2024
“The Preliminary findings indicate that the deceased had misunderstandings with her boyfriend on realizing that the boyfriend was in love with her best friend”, Obukulem added.
He said the body of the deceased has been conveyed to the mortuary for postmortem and no arrest has been made so far.
However police are working round the clock to ensure that the culprits are brought to book.
