According to a list of signed up members seen by this reporter, only Hon. Emugu Julius Peter representing Ochero County in Kaberamaido district, Hon. Ebwalu Jonathan, Soroti City West, Hon. Joan Alobo, Soroti City and Ekudo Tom Julius, Gweri, Hon Opolot Okwalinga Kanyum County, Ngora district, Hon. Isodo Stella Ngora and Hon. Dr. Isamat Abraham for Kapir County who have signed the motion.
Districts like Serere, Bukedea, Kapelebyong, Katakwi, and Amuria do not have a single Member of Parliament signing the censure motion.
MPs led by Theodore Ssekikubo moved a motion in Parliament to censure legislators who include, Zombo district woman MP, Esther Afoyochan, Rubanda district woman MP, Prossy Akampulira, MP Bukooli central, Solomon Silwany and Mathias Mpuuga, Nyendo – Mukungwe MP.
The censure is spearheaded by, Theodore Ssekikubo, Tororo District Woman MP, Sarah Opendi, and Joseph Ssewungu of Kalungu West.
The censure motion movers are citing misconduct and abuse of office.
Mr Mpuuga, then Leader of the Opposition, in March 2022 negotiated and received Shs500 million as service award from the Parliamentary Commission.
The meeting chaired by Speaker Anita Among also doled out Shs400 million to each of the other three backbench commissioners Solomon Silwany (Bukooli Central), Esther Afoyochan (Zombo Woman), And Prossy Mbabazi (Rubanda Woman) – all from the ruling National Resistance Movement party.
