Mbale Resident City Commissioner has been recalled by the Office of the President, the Appointing Authority over allegations that he participated in aiding an illegal eviction of a family on Pallisa Road, Northern Division, Mbale City.
This publication can confirm that John Rex Aachalli was recalled on Tuesday, 28th May, 2024 to allow investigations in to the illegal demolition of a building on Pallisa Road in Mbale city on Friday, 24th May, 2024 where goons broke the structure located at Hospital cell, Northern city division in Mbale city.
The demolition was supervised by police and Mbale City Council Authorities on Monday, 27th May admitted being aware of the order to demolish the structure saying it was a City Nuisance.
The Mbale District RDC, Asumin Nasike has officially taken over as the acting Resident Mbale City Commissioner (RCC) as Aachilla awaits his fate.
While speaking to the media shortly after taking over the office, on Thursday, 30th May, 2024 Nasike said that she is currently serving as RDC Mbale as well as RCC Mbale city.
Asumin who asked for team work says she wants to handle the increasing insecurity in the city.
“I want to enhance and make sure that our people live well, stay well and move any time they wish. That is one of the core responsibilities of government to make sure that people are stable and peaceful,” Nasike said.
She further revealed that some people in Mbale city have not yet benefited from Government programs such as Parish Development Model (PDM), youth livelihood program (YLP) and Women empowerment (UWEP) among others.
“We are going to make sure that everyone who’s supposed to benefit in Government programs gets money,” Nasike added.
Nasike also urged the local Government in Mbale City to give out information concerning land grabbing, corruption and poor service delivery in order to improve on the performance in Mbale City.
However, when contacted on phone, Aachalli denied having any idea of the alleged illegal eviction of people and breaking of the Pallisa Road house.
