Namisindwa in Bugisu sub region may need a special consideration in the ongoing UPDF recruitment if the district is to raise its quota.
So far, going into the third day of receiving applications for those interested in joining UPDF Regular Forces, 99% of all the applicants have either failed mathematics, English or both.
This was revealed to our reporter by the Namisindwa Resident District Commissioner (RDC), Imran Muluga in an exclusive interview on Tuesday, 28th May, 2024.
As Uganda people’s defense force continues to receive applications for the candidate who will be recruited in the force, for the last two days since the exercise kicked off countrywide Namisindwa district has failed to get partial candidates with minimum requirements.
The requirements which were put into consideration are being a Ugandan by nationality, passing medical tests whereby you must be free from any disease, having minimum of O level certificate with credits in mathematics and English subjects, having recommendation letter from LC1 to III then of GISO or DISO and RDC as a must.
Other requirements are being adults from 18 to 22 years of age and who sat senior four between in the year of 2020 to 2023.
Imran Muluga who is spearheading the exercise in the district says that they started receiving applications from Monday this week and will take two weeks.
He says so far applicants they are getting failed mathematics and English or with passes yet they want a credit in those subjects.
Muluga says that 99% of the candidates have been sent away since they lack credits in mathematics and English as required.
John Musila, Member of Parliament representing Bubulo East constituency in Namisindwa district, says that the government should reduce the requirements such that all young people can be considered.
He says that Namisindwa is one of the districts in the country which has been performing poorly under Uganda certificate of education.
Musila says that so far since 99% have not met the requirements it means most of the people who will be considered will not be from Namisindwa.
