Joseph Kitawu, the vice coordinator for Kagoma North constituency in Jinja District under the National Unity Platform (NUP), has tragically lost his life in a series of three machete attacks. These violent incidents have also resulted in two other individuals being hospitalized.
Kitawu, a businessman in the cattle industry, was assaulted near his home in Magamaga village, Buwenge Rural sub-county. Gerald Ssentembo, the area’s LC1 Secretary for Defence, reported that Kitawu was strangled and then hacked, with his body later found in the Magamaga swamp. Ssentembo expressed his fears for his safety following the brutal murder.
Nicolas Nkola, the NUP chairperson for Buwenge Town Council, told our reporter that Kitawu was a community figure who had recently established a football team. He was known for his friendly demeanor towards everyone, including supporters of the National Resistance Movement (NRM).
