CENSUS; Here Are High Level People Already Counted

The first-ever digital national population and housing census that started yesterday received a warm reception with most of the prominent Nationals being enumerated on the first day of the exercise.

Uganda National Bureau of Statistics UBOS continues to ensure every citizen who spent the census night in Uganda will be counted and those abroad with be covered within the designed questionnaires.

The first citizen of the country who is the president of Uganda Gen Yoweri Kaguta Tubuhaburwa Museveni and the First Lady Janet Kataha Museveni were enumerated on 10th May 2024. The Executive Director / National Census Commissioner, Uganda Bureau of Statistics, Dr. Chris Ndatira Mukiza oversaw the enumeration exercise that took place at State House Nakasero in Kampala.

Speaking after the enumeration exercise, the President congratulated Dr. Mukiza and his team for what he termed as a ‘comprehensive exercise’, stating that the questions being asked are very comprehensive and detailed.

The Vice President of Uganda H.E Jessica Alupo and her family successfully completed the enumeration exercise at her village Oigo Imomwa, Ongongoja Sub County, Katakwi district yesterday 10th May. Also enumerated at the start of the exercise is the prime minister of the republic of Uganda Rt. Hon Robinah Nabbanja was counted at her residence in the Kakumiro district. She emphasized the need for evidence-based planning which will be made possible through statistics gained from the Uganda Census 2024

The Kabaka of Buganda who is out of the country for medical attention was represented by Nabagereka Sylvia Naginda as the respondent

The Kyabazinga of Busoga Kingdom His Royal Highness William Wilberforce Kadhumbula Gabula Nadiope IV, was officially counted by the enumeration team, led by the Deputy Executive Director Godfrey Nabongo at his Igenge palace in Jinja.

Iteso cultural leader Papa Emorimor Paul Sande Emolot Etomeilenge also is among the cultural leaders that part in the census exercise and have been counted. He urged other leaders and all Ugandans to embrace the Census.
