Today, the Consulate General of the Republic of Uganda in Guangzhou held a ground breaking ceremony for the construction of its Chancery and Official Residence in Chigang Consulate zone, Haizhu District, Guangzhou.The event was attended by high level officials from the Chinese government including Ms. Qian Hongjie, the Deputy Director General of the Guangdong Foreign Affairs Office (FAO) and senior officials from government departments of Guandong Province, Guangzhou City and Haizhu District. Also present were Consul Generals from various countries with Consulates in Guangzhou. Uganda was represented by the Consul General, Amb. Judyth Nsababera, Honorable Norah Bigirwa Nyendwoha, Chairperson of the Committee on Foreign Affairs, Parliament of Uganda, a representative from the Uganda Embassy in Beijing and leaders of the Uganda Diaspora community in China.Consul General, Amb. In her remarks, the Consul General reassured the Chinese Government that the construction of a permanent home in Guangzhou is a sign of Uganda’s commitment to fostering the already existing good relations between the two countries. She stressed that the relations will further be strengthened by the forthcoming commencement of the direct flights between Entebbe and Guangzhou by Uganda Airlines, Uganda’s national carrier.Ms. Qian Hongjie, extended warm congratulations to the Consulate General of Uganda in Guangzhou for the important milestone. She underscored the good relations between Uganda and China. She reassured the Uganda Consulate of the continued support and cooperation of the relevant departments of Guangdong Province and Guangzhou City towards the construction and early completion of its Chancery and Official residence.
Mr. Jiang Junzan, the Chairman, Hengsheng Construction Group Co. Ltd, the General Contractor for the construction of the project, said that this project is the first foreign-related project of Hengsheng Group, and therefore an important milestone in the development of Hengsheng. In that regard, he promised that Hengsheng will adhere to their corporate spirit of “integrity, harmony, innovation, and excellence”, attach great importance to the recognition and trust of the Uganda Consulate, carefully select excellent management and professional construction teams, and fully utilize the company’s professional advantages in safety management, technological innovation, and material procurement to ensure timely and high-quality delivery of the project.
During the event, the guests enjoyed the good taste of Ugandan coffee and Ugandan cultural performances.
