Embattled Nyendo-Mukungwe legislator and Commissioner of Hon. Parliament Mathias Mpuuga Nsamba disclosed that he will lead the dismantling of a cult if at all it is being built at the National Unity Platform.
“I am not aware he (Bobi Wine) is building a small kathing for himself. But we came together to build an organization. I would not encourage him to build a small cult because it is fatal,” Mpuuga said while appearing on the Morning Breeze on Thursday morning.
Mpuuga has been in polical fracas for nearly two months, appearing on different media platforms the to clarify on a number of issues including his relationship with the party Leadership.
The NUP Party President, early March, in a statement posted on his social media handle said the party had requested then Deputy President and former Leader of the Opposition Mathias Mpuuga to step down as Commissioner of Parliament for allegedly engaging in the awarding selves of a Ugx 500 million service award.
Mpuuga however refused to step down on grounds that there was nothing wrong in being awarded.
The NUP President Robert Kyagulanyi later initiated a campaign to name Mpuuga a ‘thief’ creating back and forth exchanges amongst the two leaders.
While appearing on NBS on Thursday morning, the Nyendo Mukungwe MP said the party is currently focused on attaining short term goals which he said are not sustainable.
On his suspension as NUP President, Robert Kyagulanyi as his Deputy, Mpuuga indicated that the act of suspending him by Mr. Kyagulanyi is illegal and wouldn’t want to delve into illegalities.
“I know the party constitution. I know the powers of a president. The president has powers over certain things. Suspending a vice president is not one of them,” he said.
The MP also advised the current leader of the opposition to fight hard and settle in his new office, instead engaging in activities that further influence spite against him, one a reason he (Mpuuga) has not engaged in the activities of the party recently.
The former Leader of the Opposition however says, he is not leaving the party and instead wants to have the Administration of the Institution further streamlined from disruptive behavior.
On the Ugx 500 million service award, the MP maintains, the award was legal, moral and due.
“I am a member of the commission. The same commission that gave car grants to members of parliament. Did they resign? Because the public had issues with it.” He wondered
