It has come out that vocal Mityana district woman legislator Joyce Bagala Ntwatwa is very bitter over the silent actions of the Office of the Leader of Opposition in parliament (LOP) concerning his ongoing fight to rescue National Unity Platform (NUP) Political Prisoners.
Bagala said that when she was still the Shadow Information Minister, she used her skills as a highly trained journalist and carried out an investigation which resulted in detailing the particulars of all their people who are allegedly missing and those in prison on what she termed as fabricated criminal charges.
She further said that she filed her investigation report with the Office of the Leader of Opposition in Parliament and by then, Mathias Mpuuga Nsamba, who was occupying the Office helped her take further action in the said fight.
Surprisingly, nothing concrete was done even though Mpuuga put up a spirited fight to force President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni’s government to release the prisoners by putting a ban on parliament sittings for members of the opposition.
Bagala explained that because her investigation report is sitting idly in the Office of the Leader of Opposition in Parliament, it is the reason why people like Masaka city councilor Ali Kateregga decided to use some of its content to meet Museveni who he asked to release his NUP colleagues.
She admitted that their party was infiltrated by enemies especially in parts of Masaka and Mpuuga tried to inform the party leadership at Makerere Kavule but they rubbished him.
Bagala said that the people Mpuuga reported are the ones currently openly working with President Museveni and his son Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba’s Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU).
Museveni promised that he will look into Kateregga’s prayer to release NUP supporters.
However, when Bobi Wine got the news, he insisted that Museveni should release all NUP political prisoners unconditionally.
Bobi Wine further distanced himself and his party from Kateregga’s prayers at State House Entebbe insisting that he was speaking for himself.
NUP supporters are currently being charged with terrorism and treason related offences before the military court and are seeking to be released on court bail.
