The Leader of Opposition has been exposed as having lied when he addressed the Media on Thursday, 21st March, 2024 saying he only requested for one day’s Per Diem to visit ailing Hon. Muhammad Ssegirinya in Nairobi, Kenya.
Hon. Joel Ssenyonyi even told journalist s at Parliamentary building that when he realized he had been over-facilitated, he refunded the extra four days’ per diems.
However, a requisition authored by Ssenyonyi on the 31st January, 2024 indicates that he requested for five days permission to visit Ssegirinya in Nairobi and corresponding Per Diems.
“I and Hon. John Baptist Nambeshe, Chief Opposition Whip are scheduled to travel to Nairobi, Kenya tomorrow 1st February, 2024 to pay a courtesy call on Hon. Muhammad Ssegirinya … who is hospitalized at Agha Khan hospital,” Ssenyoni wrote adding that,”The purpose of this letter therefore is to inform you and seek your permission to be away from 1st February to 5th February.”
On the same day, Ssenyonyi wrote to the Clerk of Parliament asking to be facilitated with 5 days’ per diem at 890 dollars amounting to 4250 dollars, Air ticket 1st Class and Ground transport fees of 1000 dollars.
As earlier exposed, indeed Ssenyonyi travelled to Kenya but was back in Uganda on the 2nd February, 2024.
Hon. Nambeshe is yet to comment on the unfolding saga.
