The Senior Presidential Advisor for Special Operations Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba visited Kakira Sugar Limited at the invitation of the company’s Managing Director, Mr Mayur Madhvani.
Gen. Kainerugaba was taken on a tour of the factory and was briefed on current production figures and future targets.
Information on the company’s website indicates that it was established by Muljibhai Prabhudas Madhvani in 1930, making it one of the oldest sugar milling companies in Uganda.
The factory, which is located in Kakira, Jinja district, also produces industrial-grade ethanol, distilled from molasses, produced as a by-product of sugar manufacturing.
