However, Kampala International University (KIU) and Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST) have come in second and third positions respectively in Uganda, followed by Kyambogo and Gulu Universities.
On the continental level, KIU is placed 46th, MUST is placed at 108th, Kyambogo at 188th and Gulu university stands at 198th position.
Important to note; KIU has climbed by 15 places whereas Kyambogo has climbed by one position drawing from the previous rankings released mid last year.
KIU has been the second best university in Uganda for the last 3 years.
The Webometrics survey evaluated over 11,900 universities worldwide based on their excellence, openness, and impact among other aspects.
Webometrics, also known as The Ranking Web, is the largest academic ranking of Higher Education Institutions offering every six months an independent, objective, free, open scientific exercise for providing reliable, multidimensional, updated and useful information about the performance of universities from all over the world.
