Kampala, Uganda: Clarke International University (CIU) a value-based institute established in 2008 has today announced during a press conference an exclusive scholarship program aimed at fostering education in Business and information Technology. Prof. Rose Clarke Nanyonga (Vice Chancellor) mentioned the courses available for this scholarship program, and these are:- Bachelor of Business Administration, Business administration in health Management, Bachelor of applied Computing Technologies, Bachelor of Accounting and Finance, Bachelor of Tourism, Hospitality and Events management, and lastly Bachelor of procurement and Logistics. This totals to 100 vacancies available to aspiring eligible students seeking to pursue these courses, with ten (10) scholarship Slots reserved for Media houses.
The Deputy Vice Chancellor Mr. Milka Singh, emphasized the essence of the scholarship program as one that is aiming at providing affordable, accessible education to the all students wishing to pursue higher education as well promoting Business education and this is not just to train students to be Masters in business by experience but also by Practice.
In his remarks, Moses Alsayed Lubega (President-Uganda Sports Press Association), applauded the Vice chancellor for this program that will boost not only the sports tourism criteria but also provide an opportunity to the media criteria especially the Sports media which he says is one of the growing media section. The media will repurpose the sports media personnel and to meet the higher standards as expected as information enablers in the society. Scaling the percentage (60%) of personnel (sports media) yet to attain their university degrees, he expounded that this will enhance their skills and creates opportunities to explore, upgrade and leverage in all their areas of education pursued.
Ms. Evelyn Grace Ayot (University Academic Registrar) clarified on the procedures of accessing this scholarships majoring their transparency and with this the scholarship is provided at the University after application and also application are available at the Mbuya Catholic Church hosting an Agent for the institution and other activation points are being organized She says scholarships are open even to the disabled as long as they meet the entry criteria for the program. She also appealed that in case of any known disabled individuals they should be contacted.
The Vice Chancellor left the public with a rhetoric question to ponder especially the parents, mentioning that over 2 million Ugandan children join Primary level education, 1million join Secondary level, and lastly only 200, 000 students at university level, given these figures she calls upon parents to question themselves on the likelihood of their children to join University education.
She also applauded the university for the opportunity it is providing in ensuring that a great number of students join education at university level via the scholarship program and expressed pride to be a part of the organization to make this happen, not only for them attain university education but also become skilled Ugandans that can use their talent in the working environment.
