Man Arrested For Going For Introduction Ceremony Empty Handed In Bukwo. A man has been arrested by his in-laws for allegedly going to their home seeking to marry their daughter empty-handed.
The man has been identified as Maikut Samuel, a resident of Kapchekwos village, Kewakireen parish, Kitawoi Sub-County Kween District.
It’s alleged that Maikut informed his in-laws that he was coming to seek their daughter’s hand in marriage.
He informed them he was going for a traditional marriage, and everything was ready. However, on the eve of the day, the in-laws were surprised to see only three women who came first, claiming they were escorting the groom.
On being asked the whereabouts of the groom, they stated that he was on the way. However, on his arrival, the in-laws were left in disbelief as the man came empty-handed and without anything completely.
The in-laws, after spending Ushs 8 million, were left with no option but to arrest him and take him to Bukwo central police station.
However, both families had to come to terms, and the groom was prompted to sign an agreement stating that he would pay a sum of Ugx 3 million by December 30, 2023.
It’s also alleged that when he clears this, he will be allowed to take the bride.
The clan members distanced themselves from the saga, stating that Maikut didn’t inform them of any marriage arrangements.
However, the Ugx 3 million that was levied on him has caused stirs online, with others thinking it was wrong for the bride’s parents to charge him despite his mistakes.
