High Court in Busia district on Thursday (November 09) jailed a man for 30 years for raping his 60-year-old mother.
“I find the evidence raised by the prosecution sufficient and beyond no reasonable doubt, the accused is found guilty of the charge,” declared Justice Henry Isabirye Kawesa, the senior resident Judge Tororo High Court circuit.
Jackson Okello aged 30, a resident of Daha village in Bwaniha parish, Busiime sub-county, Busia district will serve his sentence at Morokatipe prison in Tororo district.
“The biological mother of the accused knew the accused, knew his voice and his tracks,” the judge said.
He said a female adult in her right senses could not fabricate and accuse her son of such a heinous act in the presence of so many people.
The court heard that the accused in September 2020 attacked his mother while in the bedroom and in June 2021 while in her kitchen as she was preparing food and on the third attempt she ran away.
The judge reduced the sentence from life imprisonment to 30 years after the accused’s lawyer Serious Brian pleaded for a lighter sentence, saying families always have conflicts but reconcile.
