OBONGO: Distrct leaders in Obongi have resolved to terminate the contract of SPIDER CONTRACTORS Ltd which is currently constructing Gopele Gimara seed secondary school in Gimara sub-county, Obongi district in West Nile.
The decision was taken on Wednesday during a site meeting held at the site after the team discovering that the contractor had abandoned the site after receiving an advance payment of 508,224,120/=.
According to a technical report read by the Ag District engineer Musafir Ibrahim ,the contractor who should have done over 33% of the work has only done 15%.
The fourth site meeting chaired by the district education officer Mr Angala Patrick expressed concern about the dodging of site meetings by the managing director SPIDER CONTRACTORS Ltd Jemba Nicholas who even sturbonly refuses to implement resolutions of site meetings.
Ground breaking was done by the Resident District Commissioner (RDC)Obongi,Mr Samuel Mpimbaza Hashaka in February,2023 and the school is supposed to be completed in less than a year by September next year(2024).
The site meeting resolved to summon Mr Jemba Nicholas to appear before the district leadership on Thursday next week.
This is the third time the contractor has abandoned the site within a short period of time.
The site foreman at the Gopele Gimara seed secondary school complained about the MD SPIDER CONTRACTORS Ltd for being sturbon in implemeting site meeting resolutuons.
The RDC has threatened to summon IGG Betty Kamya to investigate and arrest the SPIDER contractor.
One of the civil servants has accused some people of connivance and having conflict of interest in some contracts.
Hasaka said Wanahinci are now not trusting the CID section of the police because of the suspected intentional frustration of several corruption allegation of many cases in the Obongi police CID department.
