AMOLATAR: There was joy and excitement moment from UPC party president and secretary General Fred Ebil Ebil as they welcomed over ten people who joined UPC Party during the moblization tour held in Amolatar district last Saturday.
Ocen Robert,a -39-year- old resident of Kaberamaido district travelled to Amolatar to seek for a party card of UPC party under the leadership of Akena Jimmy Michael Obote.
He said he was longing to meet Akena Jimmy Michael since 2003 when he was still an NRM supporter but now that he has got the chance ,he has no doubt to remain in UPC Party until his death.
Okwir Tony, a-30 -year-old man from Akuriluba village,Akuriluba parish ,Opali sub-county,Kyoga North Constituency, Amolatar district, threw his yellow T-shirt as he declared converting and joining UPC party officially before the crowd.
He said Hon.Jimmy Akena, son to Dr.Apolo Milton Obote (RIP)has all the qualities to lead Uganda as the next presidential hopeful.
He echoed that therefore support to him in the fourth coming elections is now on merit hence he will vote for Akena three one-one in 2026.
Another person who crossed to UPC from NRM ,was none other than Mr.lsmail Opio of Abali village in Akongomit parish,Awelo-sub county ,who told the UPC full to capacity rally rally that he has decided to come back to the mother party (UPC )from NRM.
He said since he joined NRM party ,he has not benefitted from them apart from a T-shirt given to him in 2021.
One of the converts, a female aged 41-years- old- from Amolatar Town council,who talked to our reporter on the condition of anonymity, said she is not happy about how many ONC grassroots moblizers ,Media panelists and PVTs were dropped by some key people under ONC including the recent disappointment he has seen during the recent ONC appointment where prominent moblizers who were helping NRM during the recent 2021 elections, came back empty handed and were even dropped and forgotten but replaced with new team members instead of using the old structures of ONC who were under Babalanda Milly.
The UPC party secretary general Ebil Ebil Fred has welcomed them and gave them new attires of UPC party including party cards among others.
