In a guest home in Kisenyi ‘A’ Cell, Western Division in the Busia municipality, Maina, according to Mugwe, is accused of defiling a 17-year-old Senior Three student from Busia Border Seed Secondary School.
According to Maina, as the victim entered the lodge while wearing a school uniform, the worried locals attacked the guest house and forced the management to unlock the door. Maina reportedly managed to get away, leaving the girl behind.
The host declined to speak with New Vision Online, but referred us to a female employee who claimed that Maina entered through the front door, reserved a room, and asked her to open the back door for his visitor.
The waitress claimed that since she was the only guest at the inn, she did not care to watch who entered. However, she subsequently came to regret this decision when three boys arrived and asked her to check for a student who was in one of the rooms; when she knocked on the door, the student bolted from the room.
The deputy headteacher asked the police not to interrupt the briefing for S4 candidates that Maina was moderating since they would take him to the Police later, according to headteacher Aggrey Mayende, who stated the police had gone to the school on Friday to arrest Maina.
However, soon after the briefing, Maina left the institution.
The girl’s guardian, Pastor Noah Frederick, the executive director of Gracious Samaritan Initiative, reported that he received a phone call from Busia Police Station on Wednesday alerting him that his daughter was being held by the police after being found in the lodge with a male.
“I left her to stay there for three days as a lesson because of too much pain and anger,” he added, adding that he could not fathom the wisdom of a mature guy hurting a girl who is younger than some of his daughters.
