OBONGI: Several residents of Obongi district wants to demonstrate and head to Naguru in Kampala to report the unbecoming bad habits of CID department in Obongi of sealing corruption suspects implicated in the alleged embazzlement of fish pond funds.
Obongi residents are therefore preparing to demonstrate and petition IGP Mathin Okoth Ochola to either send police detective directly from the Naguru police based headquarters to do an independent quick investigation into the matter.
Secondly they are also demanding that Martin Okoth Ochola better appear in person in Obongi district to witness CID conduct who are sealing corruption on the ground intentionally to defraud government by conspiracy.
Members of Yakinemiji ghost fish pond project have again resolved to demonstrate against police in Obongi for failing to investigate corruption by three Gulu University staff who conned them of over 37 million shillings and failed to construct the fish pond project.
Gulu university received the over 37 million shillings in February this year and the said suspects embezzled the money in question.
The angry residents said they will demonstrate against police officers who arrested the three suspects on the orders of the Resident District Commissioner (RDC)Obongi Mr Samuel Mpimbaza Hashaka but the CID released them without taking any action against them and this time round they want it to get to the attention of the IGP so that the officers are punished accordingly.
They accused the CID department in Obongi district for being compromised and letting down the people of Obongi in the spirited fight against corruption .
The aggrieved residents now want the lnspector general of police IGP Ochola Mathin to intervene and sack all the CIDs in Obongi district led by Ag OC CID Adrani Christopher for sleeping on the job and being compromised by the corrupt.
Our news team tried calling Adrani in vain since his known phone number was unavailable by press time to give his comment on the matter.
While meeting the aggrieved members of the fish pond on Sunday afternoon, the RDC Obongi Samuel Mpimbaza Hashaka sympathized with them and thanked them for being vigilant and promised that action will be taken and those compromised will be fully investigated.
He called for calm and pleaded with the Wanahinci not to go on strike or demonstration as his office will link up with the necessary police authorities in Kampala to seek for a better solutions to address their grievance.
