KASESE DISTRICT: The UPDF is actively engaged in an operation to track down five suspected ADF rebels believed to be hiding near the Uganda and DR Congo border, in the vicinity of Nyabugando I cell, within Mpondwe Lhuburiha town council, Kasese.
On a recent Friday night, UPDF forces engaged in a firefight with these suspected ADF rebels who were attempting to cross into Uganda, seeking medical supplies from health centers located in Mpondwe Lhuburiha town council.
According to Lieutenant Maate Magwara, the Kasese Deputy Resident Commissioner in Charge of Bukonzo County, UPDF, in coordination with local residents, successfully identified and tracked these five armed individuals, who were subsequently pursued.
Lieutenant Magwara emphasized that UPDF remains committed to tracking and capturing these suspected ADF rebels, and he urged local residents to remain calm during these operations.
He further encouraged locals to maintain vigilance and promptly report any suspicious activity or potential security threats to the relevant authorities and community leaders.
Additionally, Lieutenant Magwara directed the managers of public places to enhance security measures and control unnecessary gatherings.
