LIRA: North Kyoga police PRO SP Patrick Jimmy Okema has issued a statement concerning an incident of rash and negligence act that caused the death of a 51-year-old man in Lira district.
According to SP Jimmy Patrick Okema,the territorial police of Lira-City East Division,in Lira city are investigating an issue of death by electrocution that occurred on the 3rd October 2023 at around 09:50 hours from Majani trading center.
This was realised after a report was registered by one,Okello Dickens ,48-years-old LC II chairperson of the area.
It’s alleged that on the 3rd October ,2023 at around 09:50 hours at majani trading center, Adonyo Moses aged 51-years- old ,and a resident of Olili village ,Abwocolili parish, Awiodyek Sub-County in Lira District ,while chatting with his friends, he touched on a live electric wire which was hanging from an electric pole and died instantly in a short while.
Jimmy Patrick Okema added that inquires into the matter has been instituted at Lira City East Division.
The scene has been visited by SOCO and other police officers from majani police post. He said statements has also been recorded from eye witnesses meanwhile the body has also been removed after the umeme officials were called upon later conveyed to Lira Regional Referral Hospital for post mortem.
Inquires into the matter is still ongoing by police in North Kyoga Region.
Okema issued the statement on Monday evening to the members of the media in North Kyoga Region.
