Uganda’s ambassador to Iran, Hajji Muhammad Kisambira, has died after a long illness. He died on Thursday (August 3) in a hospital in Tehran, Iran. Foreign affairs state minister Henry Okello Oryem confirmed his death on Friday.
He was former Secretary General of Uganda Muslim Supreme Council and pivotal in formation of Kibuli Muslim faction in 2019 after some clerics fell out with the Old Kampala Leadership particularly Mufti Shaban Mubajje accusing him of mishandling muslim property.
Without stating the cause of death, Uganda’s State Minister of Internal Affairs Hon. Okello Oryem told Ugandans through his twitter handle that they are doing what they can to see that body can reach Ugandan soil early next bweek for burial arrangements.
