Brian Ssenyondo has been unveiled as the new coach of Kitara FC for the upcoming season. Ssenyondo, who recently resigned from his position at UPDF FC, has signed a two-year deal with Kitara.
Expressing his excitement about the opportunity, Ssenyondo stated, "This is a great opportunity for me to be joining Kitara. I made this decision because the club is ambitious, and I want to ensure we achieve these goals together; He is eager to work with the team and help them reach their targets.
Ssenyondo takes over from Sam Ssimbwa, who played a crucial role in Kitara FC’s promotion to the Uganda Premier League (UPL). Ssimbwa's contract came to an end, and both parties mutually agreed not to renew it. Kitara FC president, Deo Kasozi, explained, "We have chosen Brian Ssenyondo as our next coach.
He fits into the club’s targets, which include finishing among the top five. We believe that with the energy and support we will provide, our club will be competitive." The new coach aims to bring a competitive and entertaining style of football to Kitara FC. He plans to utilize his experience working with national junior teams to nurture young talent and introduce new players to the squad.
Ssenyondo expressed his gratitude to the club’s management and conveyed his commitment to fulfilling their vision. Ssenyondo has previously coached Mbarara City in the Uganda Premier League and started his coaching career at Synergy FC. While acknowledging the lofty target of a top-five finish, he sees it as a privilege to join Kitara FC, a newly promoted team.
He is determined to contribute to the growth of the club and establish himself as a successful coach. The coach also mentioned that he has been given the opportunity to choose his own assistant coaches. This decision will allow him to build a coaching staff that aligns with his vision for the team. Kitara FC, who faced relegation in their debut season in the top flight during the 2020/21 season, will look to avoid another relegation battle under Ssenyondo’s guidance.
The coach understands the importance of positive results and is ready to accept the support and judgment of the passionate Kitara FC fans. Assembling a competitive squad will be one of Ssenyondo’s primary tasks. He is expected to bring in new faces, including some players from his previous team, UPDF FC.
The current squad at Kitara FC consists of a mix of young and experienced players, with Lazaro Bwambale and Ronald Kayondo among the young talents. Captain Maxwell Owachigui, Paul Mucureezi, George Ssenkaaba, and others are expected to form the core of the team for the upcoming UPL season. In conclusion, Brian Ssenyondo’s appointment as the new coach of Kitara FC brings renewed hope and ambition to the club.
With his experience and dedication, he aims to lead the team to success, emphasizing an attractive style of football and the development of young players. The club’s management and fans are looking forward to seeing positive results and a competitive performance in the upcoming season.
