Ntungamo, Western Uganda: The Police in Ntungamo district are investigating circumstances under which a bus belonging to Jaguar Bus Company, 8 other motor vehicles were involved in a fatal accident.
According to ASP Samson Kassira, the Rwizi Region Police spokesman, the accident happened on Monday 20th March 2023 at around 2Pm in Rubare Town council, Ntungamo district in the compound of Doctors Referral Hospital.
Kasasira told journalists that Isuzu bus registration number UBF669G belonging to Jaguar Bus Company whose driver is on the run was coming from Kabale towards Ntungamo and upon approaching Doctor’s referral hospital Rubaare, the driver lost control of the bus and entered the lane of motor vehicles from Ntungamo to Kabale.
It’s here that he had a head-on collision with motor vehicle registration number UAH215S that was from Ntungamo side heading to Kabale killing the driver instantly. Kasasira identified the deceased as Asiimwe Victor.
The said bus according to ASP Kasasira proceeded on its right-hand side and knocked the metallic doors and windows besides the road, then landed at Doctor’s referral hospital yard where it knocked and damaged several mvs and also damaged the hospital building.
Other vehicles that were damaged include UAV023N Toyota Noah white, UAY087Y Nissan, ambulance belonging to Doctor’s referral hospital Rubaare, UAZ572G T/Harrier, UBB799Y Toyota premio, UBF930Q Toyota Wish, UEC594 Saloon and UAK463U Limited that were all parked in the yard at Doctor’s referral hospital Rubaare.
The bus during the process also damaged a building housing Doctor’s referral hospital Rubaare that belongs to Dr Karuhanga Nicholas, a number of metallic doors and windows which were displayed on the roadside
Two other people were also injured in the carnage and they are Arinaitwe Bruno 36, resident of Kabale town, a passenger on the bus and Nsabimana Tomas 50, resident of Kasangati Wakiso district who was a passenger on the bus.
Police visited the scene, Victims were taken to Doctor’s referral hospital and are said to be out of danger.
Police also conveyed the body to Doctor’s referral hospital mortuary for postmortem examination, mvs towed to Rubaare Police station from where they will be subjected to IOVs inspection as inquiries are at hand under reference number TAR 06/2023.
