Kampala, Uganda: Alex Waiswa Mufumbiro-the National Unity Platform party deputy spokesman has slammed a group of opposition MPs who allegedly snuck into the Entebbe state house to negotiate with President Museveni.
While appearing on Pearl FM on the political talk show ‘Namwatulira’ which he regularly hosts each week, Waiswa said they had obtained credible reports that some opposition NUP MPs had been targeted by the Speaker of the Parliament Rt. Anita Among to negotiate with Museveni at State House Entebbe.
“I have always told you that no one can silence us like the weak. I will only allow myself to be silent when I am six feet below. Here we are, and I predicted to you that Namuganza wouldn’t show up even after her censure. Now it is her (Among) who is pushed aside by NRM. There’s nothing going on that we don’t know about. Even abortions that take place, we know about them. You cannot threaten me or compromise with me. Uganda doesn’t boast about how petty number 3 is (referring to Among),” Waiswa Said In Cryptic Language.
“Tell me a leader that witch hunts others for a hobby. She carried a bunch of opposition MPs and sneaked them to state house to meet Gen. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni. Our sources saw you all. Kyagulanyi has eyes everywhere. They negotiated that when an individual is retired from the office of the Leader of Opposition, he should at least retain the privileges and benefits accorded to a Prime Minister,” Mufumbiro Added.
It’s unclear if this is why outgoing opposition leader Rt. Hon. Mathias Mpuuga is doing his best to extend his term for another 2 and a half years when Waiswa’s alleged revision comes out.
Last year, National Unity Platform (NUP) Party Chairman Robert Kyagulanyi, aka Bobi Wine, targeted members of his party who accepted and received $40 million from parliament, saying it was a sign of voter betrayal.
Bobi Wine made the remarks during a tribute to the late Ffeffekka Serubogo Muhammad, the former LCV chairman of Kayunga County, who passed away in 2021. Bobi Wine wondered why his colleagues agreed to receive the money yet on consulting him as the party President, he had advised them not to receive it,
