Kampala, Uganda: Hon. Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, Uganda’s Principal for National Unity Platform (NUP)- a leading opposition party in the country yesterday launched a twitter war against Uganda’s business tycoon Hamis Kiggundu widely known as Ham on Nakivubo Stadium re-development.
Reflecting to the tweet he posted at – Ugandan time, Mr. Kyagulanyi wondered at the amount of money Mr. Kiggundu revealed to the business group he met recently saying it is overwhelming.
Bobi Wine’s statement came light after tycoon Ham told business members who inluded Arabs that “I have put up 200 commercial buildings, now am putting a stadium that will cost USD. 200billion, I am putting up 500 houses in Uganda and now am moving to agribusiness and value addition”.
But in his tweet yesterday, Ham clarified that, ‘It’s 200m not 200billion however says 200b that’s negativity speaking yet NEGATIVITY DEFEATS REASON..reason looks at substance rather than formation’.
It looks like this did not go well with NUP’s Principal there by taking to his twitter handle and wrote;
“He claims to be re-developing Nakivubo Stadium at a mind-bending cost of UGX 737 trillion (USD 200B)! Meanwhile, the most expensive stadium in the world, completed in 2020, cost only UGX 20 trillion. Uganda’s budget for 2023 is UGX 50 trillion. Our GDP is about UGX 156 trillion”.
“Hopefully, Mr. Ham’s claim was just a slip of the tongue — but that is also doubtful, since the official cost of Nakivubo’s re-development is stated to be UGX 180 billion which is certainly nowhere near 737 trillion! Eh, mai lodi, I wanda”.
