Rubanda, Kigezi Sub Region: Residents of Rubanda on Friday were shocked after noticing that a falling tree had claimed a 69-year old man.
Police in Rubanda reported that the late was hit and injured by a tree they were cutting in the forest at Kiruruma village, Ihanga parish, Bubare Sub County in Rubanda district and investigations are ongoing.
ASP Elly Maate, the Kigezi region police spokesperson identifies the deceased as old Joram Tigumisirize a lumber resident of Buremba village in Ikumba sub county, Rubanda West County.
According to Maate, the deceased was hit and injured by a tree they were cutting in the forest at Kiruruma village, Ihanga parish, Bubare Sub County in Rubanda district.
It’s alleged that on Friday, the deceased and his other colleagues were hired by Andrew Ayebare 32, a Businessman at Ihanga trading centre, to work in the forest of one Nchumwe at Kiruruma village.
Maate told journalists that while the deceased and his colleagues were at work, a falling tree they had cut fell on him injuring him seriously and died instantly as his colleagues were trying to organize to take him for treatment.
The Police PRO adds that the scene was visited by officers from Bubaare Police post, documented and post-mortem examination was done and body handed over to relatives for burial.
